Leadership coaching and development

A leader's true business is developing people.

To stay relevant, a business has to grow. To grow, its people have to grow, starting with its leaders. Valor exists to help you maximize the potential of your people.

People join an organization. They leave a leader.

Most leaders were promoted because they were excellent at the work. Few were ever taught to lead the people doing it. Gallup estimates that managers account for at least 70% of the variance in team engagement. The gap shows up quietly: in turnover, in standards that slip, in customers who do not come back, and in good people who decide to grow somewhere else.

  • A leadership team working around a table

    Retention is a leadership outcome.

Your best people stay for the leader, not the logo.

  • Two colleagues at a desk, brick wall behind them

    Development multiplies.

Train one person and you raise one performer. Develop one leader and you raise everyone they lead.

  • A team gathered at a laptop

Promotion without preparation is a risk.

Promote a strong individual contributor without developing them, and responsibility increases before capability does.

Grow your leaders, and they will grow everything else.

Solutions that grow your people

Leadership Institute

Every emerging leader is looking for leadership coaching.

If your practice doesn’t have a track or pipeline to develop that leader, you’re falling behind.

The success of your practice doesn’t rely on hiring the next best leader — it relies on developing the ones you already have.

The Leadership Institute is for that kind of practice: owners who want the most well-rounded business leaders in the building, not just strong clinicians with a title.

Leadership Institute

A multiyear consulting engagement. White-glove: installed for your practice. Five tiers. Four competencies. Not a workshop. Not a weekend course.

  3. 03Proven directors ready to lead at a higher level and start developing the leaders around them.

  4. 02New and existing clinic directors who must own their four walls, lead their teams, and execute on the mission.

How we help you write it

How we work together

Leaders are built on purpose. Here is how we build them.

We walk alongside you from the first conversation to results you can measure. When the work is done, your leaders carry it forward and begin developing the next ones.

  1. Listen

It starts with your story: where your people are, where you need them to be, and what cannot wait.

  2. Assess

We look honestly at your leaders, your culture and your numbers, so we solve the real problem instead of the loudest one.

  3. Build

A plan built for your organization and written in your language, with nothing you do not need.

  4. Develop

Your leaders grow where it counts: in the conversations, decisions and pressure they face every week.

  5. Measure

We define success before we begin, then show you the results. Growth you can see, not just feel.

You will work with Steve.

Steve Baynai has spent more than a decade leading people and developing the leaders who lead them. As a partner and senior regional director in a large outpatient healthcare network, he has coached clinic directors for ten years and teaches leadership to directors and administrative teams across multiple states. He still leads a team every day, so everything he teaches has been tested in real buildings first. He coaches, challenges and teaches, and he brings the perspective of someone who has sat in the chair.

PT, DPT, OCS, CIMT. MBA candidate, University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire. Co-founder and board president, Archangels Academy.
